《中华年鉴》是民国时期最为著名、系统的一部英文年鉴，由英国人伍德海（woodhead）主编。伍德海Woodhead（Henry George Wandesforde）（1883～1959），英国记者、报刊评论家，历任英文《北京日报》总编辑、英文《京报》总主笔、天津英文《京津泰晤士报》总主笔。抗战期间积极宣传抗日，后被日军逮捕，抗日战争胜利后获释。伍德海是名副其实的中国通，他集中大量人力、物力编成的《中华年鉴》，从1912至1939，每一年或两年编写一次，运用西方的年鉴体例和视角，系统地记载了大量珍贵的史料和数据。其编辑体例亦对中国人编写年鉴产生了重大影响。11400631_The China Year Book 1935_North-China Daily News Herald Shanghai.djvu
